South Asia Rights Initiative (SARI) Calls for International Attention to Child Health Crisis in Bangladesh

La Courneuve, France – 1 June 2026

The South Asia Rights Initiative (SARI), a France-based human rights organization, has formally submitted a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the European Union Delegation to Bangladesh, and the United Nations Human Rights Council, expressing grave concern over reports of child deaths and public health failures in Bangladesh. According to reports cited in SARI's submission, thousands of children have reportedly been affected by preventable diseases, including measles and other serious health conditions. The organization has called for an independent, impartial, and international investigation into the circumstances surrounding these reported deaths and the effectiveness of public health responses.

Key Requests:

1. Independent international investigation.

2. Review of vaccination and disease prevention programs.

3. Accountability for any officials found responsible through lawful process.

4. Support and assistance for affected families. 5. Public disclosure of findings.

6. Immediate measures to strengthen public health services.

SARI calls upon the international community, human rights organizations, public health experts, and policymakers to support efforts aimed at safeguarding children's welfare and strengthening healthcare systems in Bangladesh.
